MHS LAND LAB

The Middletown High School Land Lab was established in the spring of 2011 by three zoology students (John Mullins, Nick Rosselot, Sadie Slamka) and zoology teacher Terry Cole.  It's driving purpose is to provide students at MHS with an area to conduct authentic scientific research as well as all students a natural space for observation and inspiration.

The area was formerly a grass field and is now in the process of being converted back to a 1-acre prairie.  The MHS Science Club will be establishing wildflowers, birdhouses, and an outdoor classroom during the 2011-2012 school year.  In addition, Science Club will also begin eliminating the Bush Honeysuckle that has taken over the creek area adjacent to the land lab.  Once the creek area is cleaned up, native invertebrates, fish, and amphibians will be relocated into the lab area in an attempt to reestablish their populations.
